The collages we created needed to capture the distinct feeling and aesthetic of each featured artist, and pull from them in a way that felt personal.
The Dr. Martens brand need to be represented through it all, while balancing the individuality of each artist.
The process we developed needed to be repeatable, as different designers would pick it up to design for different episodes.
Approach
Dr. Martens has a rough punk brand that we wanted to elevate by directly pulling from punk and post punk music culture. We mood boarded for the artist to capture their personality, and then pulled from our collected inspiration. The result was 5 visual approaches, that each felt like the featured artist, but directly referenced a design process, visual technique, or imagery used in our inspiration.
